Dream Work Meditations

Guided Imagery and Relaxation Therapy

"I don't know how I ever got along without you. My life has been more blessed and more promising than ever. You have brought so much enlightenment and enrichment into my life.

Thank you for having the confidence in me that I would make it to where I am today! My world rocks and it just keeps getting better. You have helped me and my brother and sisters more than you'll ever know. All I can say is that you better live forever! You're the best and thank you, thank you thank you!!!"

"Mary, without your expertise in guided imagery, I don't know where I'd be right now. You have brought me a long way since I've developed breast cancer. You have been such an inspiration to me and I look so forward to my next session with you.

You have experienced so much in your own life, and have come such a long way, that you are able to share it with others and convey to them that life can be so wonderful. Life is what you want to make of it!

I thank you for everything you have brought into my life. I wish you the very best in everything!

I would encourage anyone to meet with Mary and you will know exactly what I'm talking about".
Sincerely,

- Kathy G

BUSINESS OWNER HELPS LOCAL RESIDENTS THINK POSITIVELY.

Mary French of Dream Work Meditations has established a
business in the BizTech Center of Hamilton at 20 High St.

French uses guided imagery and relaxation therapy to help her clients reduce stress, tension, blood pressure and muscle tightness. French has been doing guided meditation for more than 30 years. In the late 1960s she developed Lupus and needed a way to escape the pain, she said. "I had to develop a way to get outside my body."

Since then she has been working with clients in groups as large as 100 people, or with individuals in her therapy room. She charges an evaluation fee of $65, and each 30 to 40 minute session costs $50.

It's sometimes difficult to explain to someone what it is, said French. Her client, Diane Housh, had to try it to believe in it.

It made me light as a feather and very relaxed, Housh said of her first session. I feel very peaceful and positive about everything in my life.

Clients share their struggles with French in a preliminary interview, and then she helps them find a new focus. French said Housh struggled with anxiety. Housh laid on a bed, resting with an eye pillow, blocking out all light. Soft music played in the background while French walked Housh through a day dream about a peaceful place in nature. She talked about floating in the clouds. God was there a lot of spiritual things, Housh said. "It strengthening. I am ecstatic, just speechless."

Sometimes people have dreams after their session, said French. It taps into creativity skills so artists like it a lot. The more senses you bring into the process the deeper it goes inside of you and the longer it lasts.
The sense of euphoria may last for days, French added. She said her goal is to teach clients how to do the meditation themselves.

Housh plans to return to the sessions on a regular basis, she said, until she feels ready to try it herself. She normally has trouble relaxing, but the 30 minute session left her with a mellow feeling.

It's just like a free spirit coming inside of me and taking control of me, Housh said. "It's really mind boggling, it really is. To me, I really feel like I am going to accomplish a lot of goals through that."
